<p>Nagoya of Japan, has been hit by record-breaking rainfall and severe flooding after an intense rainstorm swept across the Tokai region. Nagoya recorded 104.5 mm of rain in just one hour, the highest hourly rainfall since records began in 1890.</p><p>Flooding and rapidly rising water levels were reported around the Ueda River in Nagoya’s Tenpaku Ward, while roads and underpasses across the city were inundated. The Ueda River area also suffered damage to river embankments.</p><p>Authorities issued the highest-level emergency warnings in parts of Aichi and Gifu as rivers rose and transportation was severely disrupted. More heavy rain is expected across the region, raising concerns over further flooding and landslides. </p>
